In this episode the host John Siracusa chats with Nicky Goulimis, co-founder and COO of Nova Credit. Nova Credit is a cross-border credit reporting agency that is helping provide immigrants access to credit.
Their saying is "Build bridges, not walls."
When someone comes to the USA for an extended period of time they need banking services among other things, such as safe shelter. But in order to access these things, they need a credit history with Transunion, Equifax and/or Experian. Most of which don’t have any history at all. So they end up limiting themselves to cash transactions just to get by. Nova Credit is changing this by combining world wide credit data and providing insights into immigrants to USA businesses that didn’t exist before. Nova Credit was recently included in the Forbes fintech 50 list.
